The Clarity MySQLserver solution comprises either a Sun RAQ550 or LX550 together with a software module that enables the user to convert Microsoft data formats into MySQLserver (and in reverse).

A Microsoft Windows environment manager is also included.

As this solution comes in the form of an appliance, the underlying software platform is transparent to the user. A GUI control center application, which runs on Windows, provides the ability to manage the database such as adding user access, creating tables and running reports. Data migration tools are also provided with the solution to migrate MS Access databases on to the appliance. 

This gives an increased performance over an Access file based database, without having to change the user interface to access the data. The MySQLserver supports JDBC and ODBC, so any application which uses these protocols will seamlessly connect to the appliance and utilise the database.
